DMS Lighting was founded by a small group of engineers who cut their teeth, so to speak, in the LED lighting arena, by being the original designers and founders of Epilight Technology Co., the co-founders of Optiled, Light Prescription Innovators and LPI Precision Optics.This team, envisioned the potential growth and importance in the global market of energy efficient LED based light sources and decided to strike out on their own to found a company that would be dedicated to developing and marketing their own ideas and concepts for LED lighting. Using their contacts in the industry, and armed with their knowledge of optics, tool making and manufacturing they embarked on an exciting journey of product creation that first led them into the world of specialty industrial lighting and lighting control systems.
Today, DMS Lighting currently operates offices in North America, South East Asia and Japan. DMS has its production facilities in China and its engineering group based in Hong Kong. DMS Lighting's designers have worked together for over 20+ years and have been one of the driving forces behind the realization of high efficiency LED lighting products.

Michael Smith, Managing Partner
Michael Smith has a long history in the electronics and manufacturing fields in the United States, Europe and S.E.Asia regions. He has held executive positions in various companies over the past 25 years including Executive Director of GP Industries Limited, Managing Director of Epilight Technology Co. Ltd, President of Lighthouse Jumboscreens, Inc and Chairman of the Optiled Group of companies. He has also held board positions on several companies including, Ditton Audio, KEF Audio, Celestion, Kinergetics Research Holdings, Nike Electronics, LPI, LLC and LPIPO (LPI Precision Optics).
James G. O’Carroll, Senior Partner James G. O'Carroll, brings over 35 years of demonstrated success introducing new and leading edge lighting concepts and products to DMS Lighting. Raised and educated in Arizona a Pre-Law, History major Arizona State University), Jim is a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran (three time Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient for Conserv-Energy Lighting Products Inc., a Southern California-based manufacturer of innovative, low energy, lighting fixtures. He founded Lumatech Corporation in Emeryville, California, and established what would become a manufacturer of a revolutionary line of new lighting products. As the inventor of the first "screw base" compact fluorescent floodlight designed and engineered to replace incandescent floods, Jim established Lumatech as the premier resource for value added, upscale, energy efficient lighting solutions. His lighting installations illuminate prestigious corporate world headquarters buildings that include the Sears Tower in Chicago, the Coca Cola building in Atlanta, Chrysler Corporation in Detroit and the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. Additionally, major hotel chains including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott as well as the most innovative high tech companies such as IBM, Apple, Texas Instruments,Sun Micro Systems all save millions of dollars annually in reduced lighting costs. He is a Member of Illumination Engineering Society; Founding Member of the Efficient Lighting Partnership Group of the Electrification Council (TEC).
